About me

I've never known how to explain myself.

When I was a toddler we had tree frogs stationed in a little aquarium. With pets of such personality, you really had to force them to be entertaining. Like tapping them on the bum to see them hop. Generously, I spiced up their lives for them. I named my designated frog 'Spider Dyder' (assuming that's how I would have spelled it as a 4-year-old).

After a move to North Carolina, I was gifted a Betta fish that I dubbed Michael Jaws Jr. I hated dealing with him and sometimes would forget to feed him for weeks... and he always stuck around. Years passed, but I made a fatal mistake with his tank (not to be mentioned) and he finally passed which, for some reason, actually devastated me.

Then Pootsie came along. An oversized flamingo Beanie Baby that was not to leave my peripheral. When I'd forget to bring her to a sleepover or on a family trip I'd go through any costs to smuggle her back on my side.

Over time, (like Andy from Toy Story) I had to shelve Pootsie when I finally convinced my parents on a dog. Mojo became the star of my fifth grade Show-n-Tell and my new sidekick. He and I would race down Stallion Court on my electric scooter- an incredibly goofy duo, but happy nonetheless.

I haven't had the best record of giving names. With the exception of dubbing my college roommate's Blue-tongued skink 'Carl'; I may lack style, but not imagination. I enjoy being bold and weird and happy and open. And if I assumed right, the stories above didn't really help explain myself, but I did have a fun childhood and I am thankful for that.

My favorite things include:

Spinach, beets, goat cheese, red wine, maps, books, swimming, traveling, climbing, bluegrass, dancing, wrestling Margo, dreaming of tattoos, and a few more.

I love to be in motion, pushing out of my comfort zone and forcing others a few others along.
